Five Athletics NSW technical officials, with outstanding service, were awarded Life Membership at our annual Awards Dinner held at the Locker Room at Homebush last evening.

In the last 24 hours the teams for the World Relays were announced along with the first Paralympic Games selections. Nine NSW athletes have been selected including three teenagers. Four NSW athletes will make their historic Australian team debut. The Paralympic Games is the pinnacle event for Para-athletes, while the World Relays is the key pathway for Olympic qualification with 14 of the 16 teams invited to Paris decided in the Bahamas in 10 days.
The incredible rise of 16-year-old Hills Club athlete Isaac Beacroft continued overnight at the 2024 World Race Walking Team Championships in Turkey when he was crowned World Junior Champion. Competing in the under-20 10km road walk event against athletes three years older, Isaac won by just one second, after a late surge in the race.
FRIDAY: Friday was finals day at the Chemist Warehouse Australian Junior Championships in Adelaide with NSW athletes winning more than their share of National titles.
THURSDAY: Another strong day for NSW at the Chemist Warehouse Australian Junior Championships in Adelaide with two throwers, Ashley Hogan and Ky Garratt claiming their fourth National titles. The endurance feats of Sophie Polkinghorne delivered gold, while Cameron Bloem and Matthew McLaughlin dominated their distance events.
WEDNESDAY On day three in Adelaide at the 2024 Australian Junior Championships little-known NSW high jumper, Ratu Viliame Lewanavanua captivated the crowd, while another NSW high jumper Izzy Louise-Roe, added to her medal haul. NSW athletes also dominated the sprint hurdles.
