The NSW All Schools Championships is a direct pathway to qualify for Australian All Schools Championships.

State team information is be available here. Please ensure you have read and become familiar with the selction criteria.

What is NSW All Schools Championships?

The NSW All Schools is the State Track & Field Championships for Secondary School students; incorporating students from all sectors of the education system, including Government, Catholic & Independent.

The NSW All Schools Championships is split over 2 weekends in the September holidays.

  • 16-19 year age groups (15/16 &17/19 Para) will compete on the 23rd-25th September
  • 12-15 year age groups (12-14 Para) will compete 6th-8th October

Both dates for this competition will take place at the Sydney Olympic Park Athletics Centre

The NSW All Schools Championships has grown in participation to over 2,000 participants in recent years, resulting in four packed days of competition for all  officials, volunteers and staff.

While this growth has been an exceptional result for the sport, it has created several logistical challenges – including workforce and timetabling.

We have split the Championship over two weekends.

  • To ensure the participant experience is maximised.
  • To take the pressure of our workforce.
  • To ensure the event can continue to grow and flourish for the benefit of the NSW Athletics community.

It is not common knowledge that all Athletics NSW Technical  Officials are unpaid volunteers, providing untold hours (both at the event and in assisting ANSW in the lead up) supporting our events.

Not only have they volunteered their time, they do so at their own cost (petrol, accommodation etc).  Earlier this year we rolled out a paid officiating pilot as a first step to address some of the workforce challenges facing our sport.

This was step 1 in a multi-faceted strategy to increase the workforce at our events to ensure that our athletes can continue to receive the quality experience that ANSW are known for.

To cover this cost, our entries fees have risen. The increase is exclusively to provide support for our workforce, and to provide impetus for prospective officials to join their ranks. We appreciate your support of our amazing technical officials J

Rules

The Competition Rules can be found on the Event page - here

No

Refer to Rule 1.5 of the Competition Rules - here

Rule 1.5

Athletes are not permitted to compete in more than one age group in the same event. Athletes may compete up one age group (providing they are eligible under Rule1.2 If they do so they are not permitted to also compete in their own age. Example: a 17 year old boy may compete in the 19 years shot put but cannot also compete in the 17 years shot put. For the purpose of this rule the following events are considered to be the same event: 3000m & 5000m; straight hurdles; 200m hurdles and 400m hurdles; 3000m Walk & 5000m Walk.

Athletes can wear their school athletics/sports uniform, or their Athletics NSW senior club uniform.

Spikes can be worn in all track events (yes, including distance events), jumps and javelin throw.

Spikes must meet the regulations of the venue.

This is 7mm for track events and 9mm for Javelin/High Jump.

Blocks must be used for all events up to and including 400m in length. We suggest younger athletes practice using blocks prior to arriving at the venue or at the warm up track prior to their event. Only blocks provided by SOPAC may be used. Athletes cannot use their own blocks.

Para athletes whose classifications don’t mandate them using blocks, are exempt from this rule.
