Treloar Shield Final: Three thrilling finishes as six defend titles

At an exciting 2025 Treloar Shield final, we witnessed three age divisions where less than six points separated the winning teams, while overall six of the seven teams defended the titles they won in 2024.

Open – Sydney University

Since Sydney University’s 100+ point win in 2023, UTS Norths have been narrowing the margin. This year Sydney Uni won with 474.5 points from UTS Norths with 406.5 points and Bankstown third with 377. There were strong showings by a number of teams, Bankstown who didn’t make the final last year, finishing on the podium and Ryde moved up from sixth to fourth.

A couple of leading performances were achieved by UTS Norths teenager Brenton Kerr who clocked a PB 47.58 in the 400m and Sydney University’s Australian junior champion, Tali Baltineshter, who nailed the second longest throw of her javelin career with 49.63m. While for Wests, 14-year-old Sienna Vassella competed in five events plus two relays. Her 100m time of 12.28 into a headwind and 5.40m in the long jump were outstanding.
