NSW Celebrates 11 New World Athletics Bronze Referee
Published Fri 18 Jul 2025
Athletics NSW proudly congratulates eleven of its technical officials who have successfully completed the World Athletics Bronze Referees Education marking a significant milestone in their officiating careers and strengthening the state’s presence on the international athletics stage.
The achievement is part of a broader national success, with 36 Australian officials (19 women and 17 men) passing the rigorous evaluation. Among them, NSW contributed an impressive eleven officials, underscoring the state’s commitment to excellence in athletics officiating.
This cohort benefited from an intensive eight-week study program led by Gold Referees Kim Owens and Janet Nixon, both esteemed NSW officials. Their guidance and mentorship played a pivotal role in preparing candidates for the demanding examination.
Notably, the group includes three young officials in their twenties, reflecting a promising generational shift in athletics officiating. University student Josh Henry, at just 20 years old, becomes Australia’s youngest international athletics official. He is joined by fellow Sydney-based officials Josephine Ng, and Adam Mylonas.
The full list of NSW officials who passed the Bronze Referee exam includes:
