Published Mon 26 May 2025
NSW Athletics is pleased to announce the appointment of Joshua Henry as the new Photo Finish Coordinator, effective Monday 26 May. Josh brings a wealth of experience and a passion for athletics, making him a valuable addition to the team as we continue to grow and evolve our competition and event delivery.
Josh’s appointment marks a key step forward for NSW Athletics as we expand our capabilities in photo finish technology, a crucial component of accurate and professional event timing and results. His role will not only support the smooth operation of competitions but also allow NSW Athletics to take on a greater level of school carnival support throughout the year.
“These school carnivals are not only an opportunity to showcase our sport to the next generation of athletes, but they also play a vital role in supporting our Paid Officiating Program,” said Daniel Warren, Workforce Manager, NSW Athletics.
“Josh has already proven himself to be a capable operator in high-pressure environments. His knowledge of photo finish systems and his dedication to the sport will be instrumental in helping us deliver more high-quality events. Importantly, this appointment means we can continue investing in and growing our workforce, ensuring our officials are recognised and supported for the vital work they do.”
Since its inception in the 2022/23 season, ANSW invested over $900,000 into its officials workforce via Paid Officiating Program. This initiative represents the largest investment in the volunteer workforce in Australian athletics history.
“In only a short period of time, this program has proven to assist with recruitment, retention, development, and recognition of officials, who are essential to the sport's success. Josh’s appointment is an important step towards maintaining and expanding our event delivery services for school carnivals, and ensuring that funds are reinvested for the benefit of all officials.” said Daniel Warren
Josh is already well known to many in the athletics community through his previous work as a technical official and his keen involvement across multiple levels of the sport. His familiarity with event technology and his professional approach under pressure make him an ideal fit for this vital role.
NSW Athletics extends a warm welcome to Josh and looks forward to the energy and expertise he will bring to our school carnivals and events.
