Volunteer Description

Field Volunteer: Assist technical officials with the delivery of field events, including retrieving equipment, raking long jump and triple jump pits, replacing high jump bars and helping maintain a safe competition environment. No previous experience is required, as training and guidance will be provided on the day.

Track Volunteer: Assist technical officials with the delivery of track events, including sprints, middle-distance races, hurdles and relays. Responsibilities may include setting up and removing hurdles, assisting with athlete marshalling and helping ensure events run safely and efficiently. No previous experience is required, as guidance will be provided on the day.

Admin Volunteer: Assist with the smooth running of the competition by supporting event administration, athlete check-in and post-event activities. Responsibilities may include assisting with paperwork, checking in athletes before their events, organising athletes into their heats or groups, directing athletes to the correct competition areas and helping manage athlete flow after events. Volunteers may also assist with general administrative tasks and provide information to athletes and officials as needed. No previous experience is required, as guidance will be provided on the day.

By submitting your entry, the volunteer, under guidance of a parent/guardian, agree's to the following:

  • I understand that volunteering may involve physical activity, prolonged standing or walking, outdoor conditions and working in an active athletics competition environment.
  • I agree to follow all reasonable instructions provided by NSW Athletics staff, officials and event supervisors.
  • I will take reasonable care of my own health and safety and that of others throughout the event.
  • I will promptly report any hazards, injuries or safety concerns to an event supervisor.
  • I will not undertake any task for which I have not received appropriate instructions or that I do not feel safe performing.
  • I understand that volunteering involves certain risks and accept the ordinary risks associated with my duties, to the extent permitted by law.
  • I consent to appropriate medical assistance being arranged if required in the event of an injury, illness or emergency.
  • I understand that I am responsible for my personal belongings while attending the event.
  • I agree to behave respectfully and professionally towards athletes, officials, fellow volunteers, event staff and spectators.
  • I agree to comply with applicable NSW Athletics policies, including relevant safeguarding, child protection and workplace safety requirements.
  • I understand that photography and video recording may take place during the event, with any required consent for promotional use managed separately.
  • I confirm that the information provided in my volunteer registration is accurate to the best of my knowledge.
  • I understand that this acknowledgement does not exclude or limit any legal rights or responsibilities that cannot lawfully be excluded or limited.
