World U20 Championships Team: 20 NSW athletes selected

Twenty NSW teenagers have been today named in the Australian team for the World U20 Championships to be held in Lima, Peru from August 27th. The 20th edition of the championships were first held in Athens in 1986. The championships have launched the careers of many of NSW greats including Dani Stevens and Jana Pittman.

The 2024 squad includes four NSW athletes making their second appearance at the championships - Aleksandra Stoilova (100m & relay), Delta Amidzovski (100m hurdles & LJ), Olivia Inkster (relay) and Rashid Kabba (110m hurdles, from the 2021 team).

The competition for selection in some events has been extraordinarily high so a special mention to Daniel Williams (1500m), Ada Rand (1500m), Aleksandra Stoilova and Chelsy Wayne (DT).

The NSW contingent is certainly led by open 100m National champion Sebastian Sultana and recently crowned world road walking U20 champion Isaac Beacroft.

This summer we have ridden the qualification rollercoaster with a number of athletes, including Mason McGroder and Mitchell Hatfield, who made the standard with clutch last competition performances in Adelaide in April.
