Life Membership - Kirsten Crocker
On Saturday night at the Athletics NSW Awards Dinner, Technical Official Kirsten Crocker was awarded life membership.
Kirsten Crocker volunteer service which has ranged from local club to the Olympic Games is a staggering volume of work. From club administrator to technical official and mentor, her positive impact has been enormous. Her service to Athletics NSW stretches back 37-years, to 1988.
She has reached the highest level in the sport, officiating at the Olympic Games as a race walking judge. This technical official role has for the last decade taken her to 16 international championships/Games and competitions in America, Europe, South American and Asia.
Those major Games and championships include Olympics (2024), two Commonwealth Games (2018, 2022), World Cross Country (2023), two World Championships (2019, 2022), World U20 Championships (2018), Youth Olympic Games (2018) and World Race Walking Teams Championship (2016). She was also a sports specific volunteer at the Sydney 2000 Olympics. There have been another 10+ international appointments include competitions like the World Athletics Race Walking tour.
Her National and State appointments have largely been as a race walking judge and call room judge, but also included umpire and timekeeper. Domestically they have included Australian and NSW Championships, Invictus Games, World Masters Games, Track Classics and Oceania Championships. The number of competitions would easily exceed 1000; as an example, the total number of Australian Championships (senior track) number 25, only missing two since 1998.
She has been a NSW State team manager, personally mentored five young judges and lectured around Australia and overseas.
In additions to her Athletics NSW service, she has 30 years with Sutherland Club, 35-years with NSW Race Walking club, 30-years with Little Athletics NSW and 41-years with Port Hacking Little Athletics.
She also has volunteer service with Trinity Grammar School, Southern Zone, Sutherland Women’s Athletics Club, Revesby Workers Little Athletics Centre and Endeavour Little Athletics Club.
Other volunteer roles have included: State team and Trans-Tasman Team selector, publicity officer, committee member, club President, relay team selector, canteen manager, annual report publisher, webmaster, founding member, coach, women's club captain, records and point score officer.
