A New Era with NSW Athletics
In the two years that the Partnership between Little Athletics NSW and Athletics NSW has been operating, Athletics in NSW has seen significant growth in membership and participation, as well as a more streamlined administration for our club and centre volunteers – enabling them to spend more time with athletes and less time working behind the scenes.
On the back of this success, we are proud to announce the next evolution of Athletics in our state with the launch of NSW Athletics to create a clearer, stronger and more connected identity for the sport while continuing to support specialist programs and pathways across participation, schools, community sport, recreational running and performance.
NSW Athletics brings together the history and strengths of our two organisations and will allow the sport to operate under a single banner for the first time in almost six decades. As part of the roll-out of NSW Athletics, we today unveil a new logo and brand which will serve as the overarching identity for the sport. Our new brand is supported by a suite of sub-brands tailored to specific participation and performance programs to ensure each has its rightful place in the sport, including:
· Little Athletics – continuing to introduce young athletes to the sport
· RunNSW – supporting recreational and out-of-stadia running
· NSW Centre of Excellence – underpinning athlete development and performance pathways
· NSW State Teams – representing New South Wales at the championship level
· NSW Schools Athletics – strengthening school-based Athletics
Together, these brands provide a more structured and visible framework for how athletes engage with the sport across different entry points, environments and stages of development.

Expanding with NSW Schools Athletics
A key feature of our new brand architecture is the introduction of NSW Schools Athletics, which reflects a significantly expanded strategic focus on better connecting school sport with the broader Athletics ecosystem. Athletics is in a privileged position of being one of only two sports that is a key part of the curriculum in every school in the state and NSW Schools Athletics will maximise that opportunity for the betterment of all schoolkids around NSW and the sport as a whole.
NSW Athletics has made a conscious decision to make a significant investment in delivering an improved working relationship with schools across NSW – from in-school and after-school Athletics programs through to an expanded presence at school Athletics carnivals right across the state – and that improvement will be delivered by NSW Schools Athletics.
New Organisational Structure and Office
To enable the seamless operation of NSW Athletics, we are pleased to announce that all staff will now come together with a single staff leadership structure under the NSW Athletics banner in a single office, operating out of Sydney Olympic Park Athletics Centre.
We acknowledge the tremendous contribution that Christian Renford and Chris Giles have made to the success of the NSW Athletics Partnership as the CEOs of ANSW and LANSW and are pleased to announce that Christian will take on the role of CEO of NSW Athletics and Chris as the CEO of NSW Schools Athletics. We look forward to the success that they will achieve in their new roles.
The NSW Athletics identity and brand will be progressively rolled out across digital platforms, competitions, programs and physical environments over the coming months.
