NSW Team Walk Championships 

Event Information

The Team Walks Champs consists of both an Individual NSW Championship and a Teams Championship. This event provides an opportunity for athletes to compete in a walks championship while woking together to form teams. 

There are many reason to compete at the NSW Team Walks Championships and the rest of our 2024 Winter Walks Series.

In particular,

  • The opportunity to race and compete with others at various levels of competition
  • Contribute to forming a team for teams medals, as well as individual championships

Entries

Entries are to be completed by the individual athletes/parents.

To compete and be eligible for the Championships race and medal, all athletes will have to hold one of the following:

  1. An Athletics NSW Youth, Junior, Concession or Open membership

  1. An eligible Little Athletics NSW membership.

Registrations for all winter events close on the Wednesday before competition.

This event will close on Wednesday 29th May and late entries will be guaranteed until 11.59pm of that same day.

Please ensure you have received an email confirmation of your entry.

If you have not, please contact Athletics NSW Competitions Team here asap. 

Entry lists will aim to be published by Friday the day before competition. We suggest you carefully check these lists to confirm your entry and to see who you will be competing against. If there are any issues with your entries please contact Athletics NSW ASAP and we will assist you. 

A Draft Timetable is available on the event page. The draft timetable is devised on the predicted entry numbers and provides a guide as to when athletes will be competing. 

The final timetable will be released after entries close.

It is the athlete's responsibility to check the timetable on the Athletics NSW website, to see if there are any changes from the draft timetable to the final timetable. 

The Winter Walks Rules can be viewed here, once available. 

A team shall consist of the first three (3) members of a club/region that complete the event. There is no need to inform ANSW of the members of the team unless it is a regional team, a club wants to include females or a masters athlete wants to be considered as an Open athlete for teams purposes.

U18s teams will comprise athletes competing in the U18 and U16 age groups.

U14s teams will comprise of athletes entered in the U14, U13 age groups.

U12s teams will comprise of athletes entered in the U9, U10, U11 and U12 age groups.

Open teams will comprise of athletes entered in the Open age groups and athletes aged 30-34.

Masters teams will comprise of any athletes entered in the 35+ age groups.

Competitors from the country may combine with competitors from other clubs in their region to form a regional team, which shall be treated the same as a club team. A regional representative must inform ANSW by emailing competitions@nswathletics.org.au prior to race day.

Athlete Information

  • Please register and pay for your event here before the closing date (Wednesday before competition)
  • Please ensure that you have your club competition uniform purchased and ready for competition day.
  • Please ensure you have checked the final timetable which will be published after entries have closed and the timetable has been reviewed
  • Please read the event information that will be emailed to you the day before competition.

Please arrive to the venue 45 minutes before your scheduled start time to allow for check-in, bib collection and warm-up before your race. 

NSW Distance Walker of the Year

The NSW Distance Walker of the Year will be contested in the Open Male and Female in the NSW Short Walks, NSW Long Walks and NSW Team Walks. Athletes need to be competing in the race that includes the Open division to be eligible for points.

Competitors will be awarded 10 points for first, 9 points for second and so on until one (1) point for 10th place. The male and female walkers scoring the highest number of points over the whole series shall be deemed the NSW Distance Walker of the Year.
