Australian Opens Championships Frequently Asked Questions

There are 3 ways to be eligible:

  1. Finish 1st, 2nd or 3rd at the following competition in the corresponding event 2024 NSW Open Championships (14-17 March 2024)
  2. Finish 1st, 2nd or 3rd at the following competition in the corresponding event NSW Combined Event Championships (27-28 January 2024)

Or,

       3. Meet or exceed the Athletics Australia Qualifying standards.

If you are trying to obtain the Australian Championship Entry Standard, you can do so by attending a qualification opportunity. A list of these events can be found on the National Qualification Opportunities page

Yes, but the athlete must compete in the Open age group. 

Only athletes born in 2002, 2003 and 2004 are eligible to qualify under the Under 23 qualifying standard.

2024 NSW Junior Championships Exemption Form

If you are an Open Athlete please refer to section 6 of the Selection Criteria for details. 

Yes there is. Each athlete will be required to pay the Athletics NSW Team levy of $45.00 and Athletics Australia entry fee of $47.90 per event, athletes will be responsible for all travel and accommodation arrangements including other costs associated with attending and participating at the Championships. 

 

 

By submitting your entry, you agree to the terms and conditions as outlined in the event waiver published within the event entry form. This includes the event refund policy as outlined below. The refund policy is relevant for all athletes that submit an entry, including those that do not meet the Selection Criteria Policy. Yes, there will be NSW Team Managers at the event. Contact details and where the Team Management will be located during the competition will be issued closer to the event.

Event Specific Details / Rules

Athletes competing in the Open events are encouraged to compete in NSW Uniform.

Yes there are. These have been set by Athletics Australia:

Depending on the age group you are competing in will determine which board you will be required to take off from. These have been identified by Athletics Australia. 

Athletics Australia are asking that every athlete completes several Sports Integrity Australia online courses prior to the Championship. All our members and participants have an obligation to protect and maintain the integrity of sport, as well as the health and wellbeing of our athletes.

    • view the virtual reality doping control testing process
