Running Australia Project

Athletics NSW can help you deliver your next fun run or Recreational Running Group.  The Running Australia Project can provide you with cost effective insurance along with many other benefits detailed below.

Running Australia is a national framework developed by Athletics Australia that seeks to provide collaboration with event organisers within the recreational running market in order to elevate the benchmark for events within which is a vibrant and important focus within athletics and a broader health focus within Australia.  Running Australia aims to increase the level of professionalism across the sport by encouraging organisers to focus on quality management. The ultimate aim of Running Australia is to develop a structure for the industry that supports, and more effectively services, the millions of Australians participating in healthy, fun and organised physical activity via fun runs.

The benefits of affiliating with Athletics NSW through Running Australia include:

- Public liability insurance·       

- Athletics Australia sanctioning

- Event listing on the Athletics NSW and Athletics Australia website, including a link to the event website

- Direct email promotion through Athletics NSWs eATHLETE database of registered members

- Media releases (to be provided in pdf format) to the national media list

Obligations of Event organisers
Maintain an accurate event database and provide, within 30 days of the event, an electronic copy of the entire event database to Athletics NSW in excel or comma delineated text format including all marketing tags.

Athletics NSW and Athletics Australia will not sell or provide to a third party the contents of the supplied database. To this end the event organiser must include a statement in their privacy policy or on the event entry form that personal information will be provided to Athletics NSW and Athletics Australia.

The entry form must include an-opt in clause for legal and privacy reasons.

Payment
Athletics NSW have developed the following simple annual fee structure for events to become part of Running Australia:

Up to 500 participants                                                    $650

501 – 1000 participants                                                 $1200

1001 – 3000 participants                                               $2500

3001 – 5000 participants                                               $3250

5001 – 10000 participants                                             $4000

10001 plus                                                                  $5000

Less than 3000 participants but with prize

money from $20,000 - $50,000                                      $3500

Less than 3000 participants but with prize

money exceeding $50,000                                             $5000

 
**Clubs who are currently affiliated with Athletics NSW may receive insurance for their club fun run at no charge. 

Documentation
As part of Athletics NSW and Athletics Australia’s commitment to ensuring that events run under the Running Australia framework are of the highest quality, a condition of affiliation is for the event organiser to complete the following documentation and send to Athletics NSW at: ATHLETICS NSW, PO BOX 595, SYDNEY MARKETS, NSW, 2129
