NSW dominate Universiade team

NSW athletes have this week dominated the Australian team announcement for the 2017 World University Games. The blues have placed 23 athletes, a staggering 44%, of the 53-member team. In another extraordinary performance 11 of the athletes representing 21% of the team or 48% of the NSW members, are from one institution – Sydney University. The Games will be held in August in the Taiwanese city of Taipei.

NSW XC: Gold for Milosevic after four consecutive podiums

Brad Milosevic and Nat Archer are the winners of the historic 2017 NSW cross country championship. The races were the 120th men’s championship and 75th women’s title for the race first held in 1890. The event also includes the Athletics NSW XC challenge, a series of road, cross country and trail events held throughout the year. The event was hosted on the Willandra course located on Jan and Rod Gibb’s Nowra property. It was the 19th occasion they had hosted the event, the first in 1993.

Ballard selected for a record seventh world championships

Sydney University wheelchair racer, Angie Ballard, who is in the best form of her career, was today named in a record seventh Australian world championships team. One of the greatest Australian Paralympians, Ballard was named amongst a team of 37 selected to contest the 2017 London World Para-Athletics championships. Ten NSW athletes, including legendary Kurt Fearnley will also make the journey to London.

Different pathways to London selection for NSW trio

Three NSW athletes have followed very pathways to selection on the Australian World Championships team announced last week. Milly Clark, Jeff Hunt and Brad Milosevic will line up on August 6, to run the gruelling marathon, through the streets of London. Milosevic makes his Australian team debut, Rio Olympian Clark adds another national vest to her resume and London Olympian, Hunt returns to the green and gold.

Fifth consecutive win for Sydney Uni women as Botany take the men’s honours

The 27th NSW Cross Country Relay championships, part of the Waratah Run Series, were conducted at the spectator friendly Miranda course for the 19th occasion. The open races were in contrast. with a close battle in the men’s event where Randwick Botany held off Bankstown, while in the women’s event, Sydney University dominated, claiming their fifth consecutive title.
