CEO Message - July 2016

Welcome to the CEO message for July – I hope you are all keeping warm!

ANSW is excited to now be able to release the draft calendar for this year’s pre-Christmas Summer Series, which I know many of you have been waiting for.  Please click here to go to the full calendar.I would like to thank everyone for their patience while we confirmed this program.  It was extremely important that we consulted as broadly as possible on this draft, given that there are some material changes from last summer.  This has resulted in us taking more time than everyone would have liked to release this program, however I am confident that it has also resulted in a better schedule!  A huge thanks to all of the Clubs, coaches, officials and athletes who contributed to this consultation process.In my June update I referenced the following priorities for the summer season:

NSW Short Course XC moves to Wollongong

After seven years at Rydalmere the NSW Short Course is on the move south, to the purpose build cross country venue, managed by Kembla Joggers at Integral Energy Park, West Dapto.

World U20s DAY FOUR & FIVE: Hulley hammers out silver

Hills hammer thrower, Alex Hulley has won Australia’s fourth medal and NSW’s first at the IAAF Under-20 Championships being held in Bydgoszcz, Poland this week. NSW athletes were also members of the three relay teams that progressed to the finals.

World U20s DAY THREE: Thornton misses medal by 0.002 seconds

Illawong club’s Jess Thornton came as close as you can without winning a medal today in a dramatic women’s 400 metres final at the IAAF Under-20 Championships being held in Bydgoszcz, Poland this week.

World U20s DAY TWO: Thornton run 52.12 PB in semi

 Jess Thornton (ILL) has run into top form in the semi-finals of the IAAF Under-20 Championships being held in Bydgoszcz, Poland this week. Competing on day two of the championships, she clocked a lifetime best of 52.12, lowering her previous best of 52.33, clocked at the Olympic trials in April. She ran the third fastest time in the semis, behind Jamaican Tiffany James (51.77) and American Lynna Irby (51.90).
