This annual competition has been the start to national and international representation for many of Australia’s leading and great athletes. Junior star McDonald takes the 102nd novice title

Yesterday the iconic Scarborough Park at Ramsgate hosted its 75th consecutive NSW Novice. After the inaugural race, in 1911, was held at Lyne Park Rose Bay, if switched around a few venues until it was settled at Scarborough Park in 1940 and despite World War II, it continued to be conducted until the 102nd edition of the race this year.
