CEO Message - January 2018

Welcome back to Athletics in 2018!  I hope that found time for a break and are looking forward to the opportunities of the new year.

We are entering the performance part of the ANSW calendar and January has already seen some exceptional events and performances.  A short list of highlights so far in 2018:

-          Holly Bender (MOU) taking out the state 60m Championships at the Illawarra Track Challenge

-          Tyler Gunn (GOS) running the fastest 100m of the NSW Country Championships in the U20 event

-          Fantastic victories for both Jenny Blundell (SYU) and Morgan McDonald (RBH) in the 1,500m women’s and men’s races at the Hunter Track Classic

Smith wins national walk title in warm-up for Commonwealth trials

With one month to the Australia Championships and Commonwealth Games selection trials, NSW athletes were in action at four major venues across Australia over the weekend. The NSW 10,000m championships was held in Newcastle, while the sprinters were in action in Wollongong at the Illawarra Track Classic. Athletes also travelled to Perth for the Track Classic and the national 10,000m walk was held in Canberra which also hosted an allcomers and the ACT multi-event championships.
