Success at his fifth Paralympics is looking good for Kurt Fearnley after a series of quick performances and records at the annual Summer Down Under wheelchair racing series in Canberra and Sydney last week. “It is good to be back in good nic in January in a year which means a lot,” said Fearnley.

While in the women’s events, reigning world champions Maddi de Rozario and Angie Ballard have booked Rio berths courtesy of A qualifying performances.

Hunter Track Classic: Feature event preview – women’s 1500m

The women’s 1500 metres is expected to be one of the feature events in this pre-Olympic domestic season.  With an achievable IAAF standard of 4:07.00, combined with a growing depth in the event in Australia, we could witness as many as a half-dozen qualifiers for Rio. The HUNTER TRACK CLASSIC next Saturday will be the first opportunity for athletes to impress on the national circuit.
