Olympian Paul Greene made a comeback of sorts at the NSW Masters Championships at SOPAC on Saturday, competing in the 100m in the men’s 45-49 years age group.
UTS North have retained the Treloar shield, their fifth win in the last six years, since the inauguration of the trophy. In the age groups, UTS Norths won the masters division, Sydney University the Open and UTS North the juniors.
NSW have supplied a strong representative of seven athletes for the IAAF World Cross Country Championships to be held in Aarhus Denmark on March 30. The athletes earned selection with solid performances at the cross country trails at Mt Stromlo in late January.
In contrasting conditions, light rain on Saturday and very warm weather of Sunday, the NSW Combined events were held at the Crest track at Homebush.
Similar to the women’s NSW 5000m event, a strong field assembled the Crest at Bankstown last evening to battle out the 2019 Men’s 5000m title. The unknown was how favourite for the race, Jordan Gusman (Bankstown) would handle his recent change of coach.
