It is with the deepest of sympathy that I write this item to advise the passing of one of ATFCA’s most long serving state Presidents. Ron White, who has been involved with the Australian Track and Field Coaches Association since its inception (1974) passed away yesterday unexpectedly. While attending the memorial of a friend he was giving a tribute and collapsed.

Sydney University dominate Australian University Games

The men’s and women’s Sydney University teams have been crowned national championships after the four-day 2019 UniSport Australia Athletics Championships at Homebush, which concluded on Sunday.

NSW universities ruled the competition with only Melbourne University and Latrobe University putting up any residence.

Success for host state at the 2019 Australian Track and Field championships

The week long Australian Track and Field Championships concluded yesterday with the open events held over the last few days. NSW’s women were the most successful with some surprise and high quality winning performances. There was a long over-due breakthrough from Sara Klein in the 400m hurdles and an extraordinarily brave win for Kyle Cranston in the decathlon.

Campbell and Carey outstanding at the World Cross Country Championships

No doubt inspired by the recent announcement that Australia will host the next edition of the IAAF World Cross Country Championships, the Australians have recorded their best team result in 10 years at the championships. The open women’s team, which included two NSW athletes were fifth in the race – the highest place by any Australian team since 2008. In the junior race, Lauren Carey, 15, placed a brilliant 16th the highest place by Aussie for 10 years in this event.
