Waratah Invitational Series

In January 2009 Athletics NSW will launch a new series of meets called the Waratah Invitational Series. These meets are aimed at bridging the gap between state and national competition by providing structured, high quality competition for NSW athletes.

Features of the meets which differ to Athletics NSWs Allcomers Meets include:

  • Minimum ground entry standards
  • Pre-entry required for all events
  • All races seeded by ability i.e. no age group events
  • Detatiled timetable for the meet available after the close of entries with exact starting time of each race

Two Waratah Invitational Meets will be held this season:

Saturday, 10 January

This will be the first opportunity to race on the recently resurfaced track at SOPAC and is expected to provide excellent racing opportunities for sprinters, with 100m, 200m and 400m all on the program.

Thursday, 22 January

This meet has more of a distance focus and will incorporate the NSW 5000m championships as well as a high class 800m. As with all NSW championships there are no performance standards for entry into the 5000m.

Full competition programs and entry rules are available here
