GWS Summer Series kicks off

Athletics NSW and Little Athletics have announced a new competition to promote the sport in Greater Western Sydney.

The GWS Summer Series begins at Campbelltown on Tuesday February 7 and is open to everyone.

Events kick off at 6pm. Entry fee for members of Little Athletics clubs or senior athletics clubs is $5. For everyone else it is $10. You can enter as many events as you wish and pay on the day.

Greater Western Sydney Development Officer Nick Bromley said the GWS series would cater for all ages and all level of athletes.

``Little athletes, school competitors, juniors, seniors, elite athletes – everyone’s welcome,’’ Bromley said.

``The competition will be run under ANSW permit – which means times and distances can be used as qualifiers for national championships.

``It will be a great series for Little Athletes preparing for the region and State championships as well as club athletes looking for additional competition.’’

The second competition will be held on Wednesday February 29 at Blacktown and the third meeting on Wednesday March 7, also at Blacktown.

Events, timetables and further details will be available on the Athletics NSW website, Just click on ``calendar’’.
