On Saturday, 23rd December, there will be an All-Comers competition, followed by the Albie Thomas event, to be held at The Crest Athletics Centre, Georges Hall.
The Albie Thomas Mile returns to The Crest in 2017, with Jordan Gusman set to headline a cracking field set to go sub-4 for the third consecutive year. A total prize pool of over $5,000 is being offered for the Men's 1 Mile and the Women's 1500m, with bonuses for men breaking Albie's Mile Record of 3:58.3, and women running a Commonwealth Games A Qualifier (4:08.10).
Gusman will defend his 2016 title on 23rd December. The evening honors the memory of Albie Thomas, one of Australia's greatest-ever runners and the first Australian to break the 4-minute mile barrier, and Gusman will be looking to create history at the crest, chasing Albie's Personal Best of 3:58.3.
As well as the men's Albie Thomas Mile and the headline women's 1,500m, the event will also feature a Community 1 Mile event. Come along and try running on the track for the first time, before sticking around to watch some of the best athletes in Australia go head to head.
To enter this event, please visit the "Community 1 Mile" event page, via the Athletics NSW Calendar page.
With bars, food and a Running Science pop-up store, the Albie Thomas Mile will be a festival of running for those in attendance and the official ANSW Live Stream will bring the meet to those unable to experience it live.
The Albie Thomas and Bankstown All-comers has Athletics Australia Permit Status enabling athletes to qualify for National and International competitions and set state and national records.
