WARATAH RUN SERIES

 

The Waratah Run Series is a rebranded and remodelled set of XC, road races and relays events. These events are for participants of all ages and abilities, and focus on participant enjoyment and on the day entertainment. 


Formally, this series is known as the 'Athletics NSW Winter Series,' combining a community based social event with a championship component. 

 

 

2019 WARATAH SERIES SHORT COURSE

The 2019 Waratah Series Short Course is an amalgamation of the Athletics NSW Short Course Cross Country Championships and the Little Athletics NSW Cross Country Championships. Races in the U7 - U11 age groups will be conducted under Little Athletics NSW rules and races in the U13 - 80+ age groups will be conducted under Athletics NSW rules.

PARA-ATHLETE EVENTS
Para-athletes of all ages and abilities are welcome to participate in the U18 or Open Para events. You will not need a classification for this!

Para-athletes who wish to compete in the Under 9, 10 and 11 age group must be classified and must be between the ages of 9-11.  

ENTRY FEES 
Runners U7 - U11 - $10 for members + non-members
There will be no one the day/ late entries for U7-U11 age groups.  

Runners U13 and older - $20 for members/$40 for non-members

ELIGIBILITY
Members are to be registered with Athletics NSW (or other state member association or Little Athletics NSW) for the 2018-19 season and wear their club uniform with their bibs worn front and back for the duration of the event.

 

Please note that Little Athletics NSW members only need to wear their registration number on the front of their uniform.

 

Non-members are eligible to enter however only ANSW registered athletes (or other athletes registered with another state member association) are eligible to receive medals in State Championship events.

Athletes in the U7-U11 age groups must wear their Little Athletics Club Singlets.

Athletes in the U13- U18 age group are encouraged to represent their senior club and wear their senior club uniform. 
Those duel athletes who do not have a relationship with/ own a senior club uniform can represent their Little A's centre. 

TEAMS

Teams for the U7-U11 age groups will consist of 3 athletes per team.
Team will consist of 4 athletes from a club from U13-Masters.
Little Athletics clubs in the U13-U18 age group can join with their respective senior club to create a team within their given age group.
These clubs must have an pre-established relationship in order to create a team. There will be forms on the day where club representatives can enter their team prior to the beginning of the race. 
It is encouraged to assist in the smooth transition from LA's to ANSW that they all wear the same (senior) club singlet. However this is not mandatory.   

Regional clubs can combined to create a team if the clubs are from the same region. Club representatives must fill out a team form on the day prior to the start of the race. 

MEDAL PRESENTATION

Medals will be presented to all individual medalists after the conclusion of each race. Team medals for the U7 - U18 categories will be awarded on the day. All other team medals will be sent to clubs in the week after the Waratah Series Short Course.

FOOD & BEVERAGES

The Girraween Athletics club will be operating a canteen on site. On top of this, the event will play host to on the day activations, encaptivating race callers as well as entertaining music. 


NSW WINTER PREMIERSHIP & WINTER TROPHY 

Races included in the Waratah Series Short Course will be point scoring events towards the Winter Premiership, Winter Trophy and Distance Runner of the Year.
