The NSW Open, U23 & Para Championships is the premier track and field Championship of 2017. This year the Championships incorporates the Sydney Classic on the Saturday evening. The events offered in the Sydney Classic are selected finals of the Open Championships. To be part of the Sydney Classic athletes must make it through qualifying rounds to contest the final.

Friday 24th February - Sunday 26th February 2017
These events are permitted by Athletics Australia (AA). An AA permit allows athletes to qualify for international events and break state and/ or national records.
Athletes must be registered with an Athletics NSW affiliated club for the 2016/17 season. If you are not currently registered with a club you can register online here. Interstate and International athletes are welcome to enter.
The NSW Track and Field Championships will be conducted in the Open age group, where medals for the Under 23 Championship will be awarded based on results from the Open Championships. The first three athletes aged 20, 21 or 22 in the calendar year of the event will be awarded Under 23 medals.
Para athlete events will be multi disability events. Medals will be awarded as a % of the world record.
Registered Athletics NSW club members must wear their correct club uniform. Athletes must have their Athletics NSW 2016-17 registration numbers attached on the front and back (except in pole vault and high jump events).

Entry fee is $20 per event. An entry fee cap of $70 applies to all entries.
Spectators will be required to pay gate entry, Adults - $7.00 per person per day and U18’s - $4.00 per person per day.
Entries close midnight Thursday 16th February 2016.
Late entries are not guaranteed and are only accepted on the approval of the Athletics NSW Competition Manager or Technical Delegate. Athletics NSW reserves the right to refuse late entries. No field event late entries will be accepted. If a track late entry is accepted, it will cost $35 per event and must be lodged 90 minutes prior to the start of the event on the official late entry form.
Field events included in the Sydney Classic may require a qualifying round. Each field event has a qualifying round scheduled. Once entries have closed it will be confirmed whether the qualifying round for the event is required. If required the top 6 athletes after 3 attempts will qualify for the final. Athletes who meet the below standards since 1st January 2016 are not required to attend the qualifying round and gain direct access to the final:
Men's Triple Jump: 15.00m
Men's Javelin: 65.00m
Women's Long Jump: 6.00m
Women's Discus: 50.00m
Those athletes that qualify direct to the final will be notified via email.
On the Day Check-in
Athletes must report to Athlete Check-In at least 60 minutes before the start of each of their events to confirm their entry. Failure to check in may results in the athlete being scratched from the event. Athletes are encouraged to check-in at the commencement of each day for all of their events for that day.
In all field events, except for the high jump and pole vault, each athlete will be allowed three attempts and the eight athletes with the best valid performances will be allowed a further three attempts.
