Athletics NSW 2017 Winter Season Events

The Waratah Run Series is the rebranded and remodelled winter series hosted and supported by Athletics NSW. The events are for participants of all ages and abilities, and focus on participant enjoyment and on the day entertainment. Formally known as the ‘Athletics NSW Winter Series’, the Waratah Run Series is a set of community based social events which also incorporate a championship component. With 11 events names, participation opportunities range from XC Festivals at Horsley through to Street Relays in Ourimbah. And with distances from 1km to 30km, there is an event and challenge for everyone. 

As part of Athletics NSW Membership Benefits, ANSW Members (open, junior, youth, age concession, dual, family, runnsw) will receive half price entry into Waratah Run Series Events.

WARATAH RUN SERIES

 

The Waratah Run Series is a rebranded and remodelled set of XC, road races and relays events. These events are for participants of all ages and abilities, and focus on participant enjoyment and on the day entertainment. Formally known as the ‘Athletics NSW Winter Series’, the Waratah Run Series is a community based social event incorporating a championship event.  

 

XCC STREET RELAYS

 

The XCC Street Relays is a truly unique event that should be on everyone’s fun run calendar! There are a range of different team options on offer, whether you are a member of a club or just want to grab four of your friends to come along and each run distances between 2-4km!  The event is held through the streets of the beautiful University of Newcastle, Central Coast Campus, Ourimbah and is suitable for all ages and abilities. On top of this, the event will play host to on the day activations, food and drink stalls, encaptivating race callers as well as entertaining music.

 

The 2017 event will be hosted by the Mingara Athletics Club and will also feature the NSW Road Relay Championships.

ENTRY FEES

 

The entry fees are as follows:

 

Member team entry $38

Non-member team entry $70

Individual entry $10 (must run 1st leg of a relay race)

HOW TO ENTER

 

Entries are on the day only and must be submitted on the official entry form at the registration desk. Clubs/groups must enter teams, consisting of four (4) members, and any reserves, 60 minutes prior to the commencement of your race and any alterations must be submitted prior to the starting time of the last runner.

ELIGIBILITY

 


Members are to be registered with Athletics NSW (or other state member association or Little Athletics NSW ) for the 2016-17 season and wear their club/centre uniform with their bibs worn front and back for the duration of the event.

 

Non-members are eligible to enter however only ANSW registered athletes (or other athletes registered with another state member association) are eligible to receive medals in State Championship events.


TAG TIMING:

Athletics NSW will be providing Tag Timing at the 2017 XCC Street Relays. Team Managers are to collect tags for team members at check in. Individual entrants will be provided tags upon checking in. Your personally issued tags must not be used for this event.

FOOD & BEVERAGES

 

The Mingara Club will be operating a canteen including a BBQ. On top of this, the event will play host to on the day activations, encaptivating race callers as well as entertaining music. 

 

 

AGE GROUPS

 

The XCC Street Relays are offered in the following age groups: U12, U14, U16, U18, U20, Open, 35+, 45+, 55+, 65+ and 75+.
