The 'Level 2 Advanced Coach' Course gives coaches the opportunity to begin to specialise in either 'Sprints, Relays, & Hurdles,' 'Middle & Long Distance,' 'Jumps,' 'Throws,' or 'Race Walking.' The course comprises of two days of face-to-face training in addition to pre-course and post-course assessment.

Level 2 Intermediate Recreational Running Coach

Bankstown. Sunday August 19, 2018.

This course trains coaches to develop the fundamental technical and strategic skills for runners training for 5km through to ultra-marathon events.  It covers topics such as warm ups, session planning and designing training programs. The course also develops the coach’s skills in managing groups of varied skill levels from novice through to elite. Prerequisite for the course is the Athletics Australia Level 1 Community Coach course or the Level 1 Run Leader course.  RPL for Level 1 is available for qualified Certificate 3 or 4 personal trainers who are taking the Recreational Running Coach pathway.

Athletics NSW invitescoaches to attend this professional development session on elements of Strength and Conditioning. Following the Target Talent Program (TTP) practical session,NSW Institute of Sport's, Senior Strength and Conditioning coach, Steve Adams, will present three 30 minute sessions to all State Coaches and TTP Personal Coaches. This opportunity has been opened up to all NSW Coaches looking to gain further knowledge in this area.

This is the entry level for all Accredited Athletic Coaches.  The fundamental skills of running, jumping & throwing are introduced as well as exploring how to engage athletes in long-term participation and how to coach skills to beginner athletes. The Level 1 Community Athletics Course aims to:
  • Develop the general principles of coaching - communication, group management, safety, organisation, and instruction.
  • Provide practical coaching strategies to encourage the development of the sport's fundamental skills of running, jumping and throwing.
