It is fascinating to learn how coaches started their careers. In this article with South Coast coach, Mel Mustapic we learn how she always had a passion for the sport and assisting and encouraging others. After a few years it became more formal when she started a squad. As a country coach she highlights the need to be able to coach across events. Mel’s coaching is a legacy and tribute to great NSW John Atterton, who passed away in 2016.

CEO Message - January 2018

Welcome back to Athletics in 2018!  I hope that found time for a break and are looking forward to the opportunities of the new year.

We are entering the performance part of the ANSW calendar and January has already seen some exceptional events and performances.  A short list of highlights so far in 2018:

-          Holly Bender (MOU) taking out the state 60m Championships at the Illawarra Track Challenge

-          Tyler Gunn (GOS) running the fastest 100m of the NSW Country Championships in the U20 event

-          Fantastic victories for both Jenny Blundell (SYU) and Morgan McDonald (RBH) in the 1,500m women’s and men’s races at the Hunter Track Classic
