November Chairman's Message

A lot has been happening since my last communication a few weeks ago. 

On Track and Field there have been many highlights:

The State Relays were the best I have to for a long time.  The friendly rivalry, the atmosphere, the performances, and the commitment (not the least being Jay Stone hiring a bus and driver, to drive his team of 40 from Armidale and booking accommodation next to Silverwater Gaol...).

Clark and Gusman crowned NSW 3000m champions

At the first senor state championships of the summer, the NSW 3000m, Olympians and training partners, Milly Clark and Jenny Blundell battled out a high quality 3000m with most athletes slashed second from their personal bests, while in the men’s Jordan Gusman stormed home for a comfortable win in a personal best.

Coach achievements can often go unrecognised as they work in the background or at the training track. But one performance which must rate as one of the best-ever for Australia was Iryna Dvoskina’s coaching efforts in London – and the many hours, days and months leading up to the event. Canberra-based Dvoskina, coached two NSW and one WA athlete to great success at the Para-Athletics World Championships in London in July.
