The 2017 Australian All Schools Championships will be held in Adelaide, South Australia from Friday December 8th to Sunday December 10th. 

The Australian All Schools Championships is organised by Athletics Australia, and is the National track and Field Championships for school sport. There are individual medals as well as state team trophies awarded at these championships. 

The New South Wales team to compete at these championships is selected and managed by Athletics NSW. Athletes who are selected in the NSW team, will stay together in Adelaide as a team, the same way a national team would at international championships. 

Age groups to be contested at the Australian All Schools Championships are Under 14, Under 16 and Under 18, with the athletes age being taken as of 31 December 2017. Selections for the NSW team will be made solely from the results at the 2017 New South Wales All Schools Championships (Sydney 12-15 October).

Athletics NSW hopes to send a full team to compete at the Australian All Schools Championships. A full team comprises of the following:

  • 2 athletes per event in the under 14 age group
  • 3 athletes per event in the under 16 and under 18 age groups

Of the three athletes selected in the under 16 and under 18 age groups, one must be selected from the under 15 (14yrs), and under 17 (16yrs) age groups respectively. 

Team Selections:

  • All athletes that finish first or second in the 13 years, 15 years and 17 years events at the 2017 NSW All Schools Championships achieve an automatic qualification to the NSW team to compete at the Australian All Schools Championships. 
  • All athletes that finish first in the 14 years and 16 years events at the 2017 NSW All Schools Championships achieve an automatic qualification to the NSW team to compete at the Australian All Schools Championships.
  • Multi-Class athletes who finish first or second in the 13-15 years and the under 18 years according to the MDS results for 100m, 200m, 800m, Long Jump (ambulant only), shot put and discus achieve an automatic qualification to the NSW team to compete at the Australian All Schools. *athletes who qualify for the NSW team must have a national classification.
  • Where an eligible athlete declines their position on the NSW team, their place will be offered to the next best placed athlete in the respective age groups. Please see the full selection criteria document for more details.
